Why Greenlytes recommends it

A stronger off-grid option for larger outdoor areas.

The SSL-30 combines a 3,300-lumen high mode with a larger 50-watt monocrystalline solar panel and 216Wh battery. It is the more capable choice in this range when the installation calls for greater output, higher mounting and wider site spacing.

1

Automatic dusk-to-dawn operation

The fixture manages normal nighttime operation automatically, increasing brightness when motion is detected and returning to its lower output after activity subsides.

2

216Wh battery + 50W mono solar panel

The larger 50W 18V monocrystalline panel feeds a 216Wh lithium-ion battery, with backup capacity of up to three nights when the battery begins fully charged.

3

Designed for higher mounting

A recommended 4–6 m (15–20 ft) installation height gives the SSL-30 a different role from lower-mounted solar area lights, making it better suited to broader roadway and parking zones.

4

IP66 protection for exposed installations

The integrated housing carries an IP66 rating and is designed for outdoor installations exposed to rain, dust and changing temperatures without requiring a grid-power connection.

01 Is 3,300 lumens enough for a parking area?

The SSL-30 reaches 3,300 lumens in its motion-activated high mode. That makes it useful for defined parking, roadway, entrance and perimeter zones, but total lumens alone cannot determine whether a complete parking lot will meet its target ground-level illumination.

Mounting height, fixture spacing, beam distribution, obstacles and required uniformity all affect the finished lighting result.

Greenlytes insightUse our outdoor solar-lighting lumen guide when comparing output with the size and purpose of the area.
02 How high should the SSL-30 be mounted?

The recommended installation range is approximately 4–6 meters (15–20 ft). Within that range, mounting height influences how broadly the light is distributed and how much intensity reaches the ground.

The final height should suit the site layout, structural mounting point and desired coverage.

03 How far apart should SSL-30 fixtures be installed?

A reference spacing of more than 18 meters can be used for initial site planning. Treat that as a planning reference rather than a universal design rule, because actual spacing depends on mounting height, site geometry, obstacles and the illumination required between fixtures.

For commercial or safety-sensitive installations, fixture spacing should be validated against the project's actual lighting requirements.

04 Does the SSL-30 stay illuminated when no motion is detected?

Yes. Smart Sense is designed to provide lower-level illumination after dark rather than leaving the area completely unlit. Motion detection raises output to the brighter setting and the fixture returns to its normal nighttime level after activity subsides.

This approach balances continuous nighttime visibility with higher output when people or vehicles are present.

05 How long does the SSL-30 take to charge?

A full charge requires approximately 6–8 hours of strong direct sunlight. The actual energy collected in a day will vary with season, panel orientation, shade, cloud cover and the amount of direct solar exposure.

For best performance, install the integrated solar panel where nearby trees, buildings and other obstructions will not substantially reduce daytime sun.

06 How does the SSL-30 perform through cloudy or rainy weather?

With a fully charged battery, backup capacity can reach up to three nights under suitable conditions. That figure assumes stored energy is available beforehand; repeated low-sun days can progressively reduce the charge available for subsequent nights.

Weather autonomy should therefore be treated as a reserve under suitable conditions, not a guarantee of identical runtime in every climate or season.

07 What does the PIR motion sensor cover?

The PIR sensor can detect movement from approximately 16–33 ft away, with a detection angle below 140 degrees. Detection distance can change with mounting position, approach direction, ambient conditions and the layout around the fixture.

The 120-degree light beam and the PIR detection zone are different specifications: one describes light distribution, while the other describes where movement can trigger the higher-output mode.

08 Does the SSL-30 require underground electrical wiring?

No grid-power feed is required for normal operation. The solar panel, battery, LEDs and control electronics form a self-contained system, avoiding the need to trench a mains cable to the fixture.

A suitable pole or structural mounting point is still required, and professional installation may be appropriate for work at height or commercial sites.

09 Is the SSL-30 suitable for a full commercial parking lot?

The SSL-30 is suitable for parking-area and roadway applications, but a complete commercial parking lot should not be designed from wattage or lumen output alone. Required illuminance, uniformity, pole locations, mounting height, security objectives and local requirements can all change the number and placement of fixtures.

For larger or compliance-sensitive projects, use a proper lighting layout or photometric plan before purchasing the final fixture quantity.
